Day # 1 :We'll meet and depart from a convenient location: our parking area in Alpine or perhaps an airport park&ride, whichever is most convenient for the group. From Alpine, we cross at Tecate. From central San Diego, we cross at San Ysidro.
Traveling down the coast to El Rosario, we turn inland, stopping for a picnic lunch and a visit to an ancient cave art site just north of Catavina. On through the Valley of the Boojum Trees, we arrive 4 hours later in
San Ignacio and the Ignacio Springs Bed & Breakfast. After getting situated in our yurts we have the rest of the afternoon to enjoy the oasis. Go for a swim or a paddle,
or go stroll to the village square and see the church of San Ignacio de Loyola, one of the most beautiful missions in Baja California. Completed in 1786, the church is
constructed of rock from the nearby Las Tres Virgenes volcanoes. But don't be late getting back to the B&B, you won't want to miss the delicious dinner being served!
Day #2 :Meet for breakfast and then travel to the lagoon. We'll spend all day there, going out in the morning, returning to shore for lunch, and then back out again if weather permits. If not, we'll go out again the next morning.
On shore, our tents are already set up and are furnished with sleeping bags, cots, cotton sheets and pillows. Relax and enjoy a margarita (BYOB) as dinner is prepared for you. When it's time for bed, listen closely for the sounds of whales
in the lagoon spouting and splashing.
Day #3 :If it was too windy yesterday afternoon to go out on the water again, we'll go out this morning for one last visit with the whales. In the afternoon we head back to San Ignacio and on up the highway to San Quintin, stopping for the night at the Old Mill. Enjoy a dinner of the freshest seafood and perhaps a bottle of wine from the Guadalupe Valley.
Day #4 :After breakfast we're on the road again, stopping in Ensenada for a wine tasting at Bodegas de Santo Tomas, Baja California's oldest winery, before heading back over the border.
